New villas on pompeiiinpictures

On our recent trip we were delighted to be able to go and see Villa Arianna at Stabiae. What a gem.

However looking through our pictures when we got home we were dismayed to see the deterioration over 10 years. Lets hope some money can be allocated to it.

The Villa Arianna custodians' were excellent, so enthusiastic about "their" villa and pointing out things to us that we would easily have missed.

We hope our pictures encourage others to discover its whereabouts and visit it.

Whilst we were there we were told about an exhibition at Quisisana which runs until the end of December. This exhibition appears to contain many frescoes and items from the villas, formerly in the Stabiano Antiquarium. However it seems you need a car to get to it and we did not have one so will try to visit it in December. Has anybody been to the exhibition or got any photos?

We have now added several new villas to our villas page.

Villa Arianna at Stabiae
The Secondo Complesso at Stabiae.
The Villa of Lucius Crassius Tertius at Oplontis

Next on our list is a complete revision of the pages for Villa San Marco at Stabiae.
